A Night Celebrating Wrexham’s Businesses

Last Friday, The Croes Howell in Wrexham played host to the Wrexham Business & Community Awards 2025 — a night packed with celebration, community spirit, and a huge sense of pride for a city that continues to rise. I was delighted to attend as a guest of the brilliant This Is Wrecsam team, and what an evening it turned out to be.

From start to finish, the awards showcased everything that makes Wrexham special: its passion, its ambition, and the independent businesses who keep pushing the city forward.

Local Favourites in the Spotlight

It was fantastic to celebrate all the finalists and winners, but a few familiar favourites deserve a special shout-out — Bank Street Social, Wrexham Lager, and Welsh Witch Craft Spirits. Businesses like these embody the creativity, craft, and community that we love spotlighting on our tours.

These are exactly the kind of places that make Wrexham such an exciting city for food and drink lovers, and it was brilliant to see them recognised alongside so many other hard-working local businesses.

A Welsh Menu to Remember

And speaking of spotlighting… let’s talk about the food.

The Croes Howell served up an outstanding three-course menu that could easily hold its own at any food-led celebration. We started with a beautifully presented ham hock and Welsh rarebit terrine, paired with a piccalilli purée and a bright, crunchy pickled root veg salad. A true flavour-packed nod to Welsh produce.

The main course continued the celebration of local flavours: a homemade beef pie — rich, warming, and proudly served with a pint of Wrexham Lager. Add in champ mash, a hearty hot pot sauce, and crispy cabbage, and you’ve got the kind of dish that feels like a hug on a plate.

Dessert was another standout: a decadent baked chocolate tart matched with an orange ice parfait and citrus purée, rounded off with a cheeky shot to toast the night. A fabulous end to a fabulous menu.

Why Events Like This Matter to Wrexham

Events like the Wrexham Business & Community Awards remind us exactly why we love working in this region. The passion, talent, and energy of the people and businesses here are extraordinary — and it’s a joy to see them recognised.

For us at Walking Food Tours UK, nights like this are also a reminder of just how strong Wrexham’s food and drink scene has become. From award-winning spirits to character-filled bars and proudly Welsh menus, there’s so much here for visitors and locals alike to discover, sip, and savour.

A huge congratulations to all finalists and winners. And a big thank you to This Is Wrecsam for the invitation and for everything they do to champion Wrexham.

If you’d like to explore Wrexham’s food and drink scene for yourself, our Wrexham Food Tour is a brilliant way to meet the makers, visit local favourites and taste the best of the city in one afternoon.

Here’s to another year of celebrating the very best of our local food, drink, and community!
