An unforgettable Liverpool wine experience

About The Tour

Discover Liverpool’s modern wine scene on a relaxed, guided walk through independent bars and hidden gems. This is one of the most popular  of our Liverpool tours.

You’ll taste a curated flight of wines (think Barolo vs Burgundy, crisp Pinot Grigio vs vibrant Sauvignon Blanc), learn how to spot styles you love, and pick up easy tips on pairing food and wine.

It’s friendly, fun, and made for curious wine lovers — no jargon required.

Your guide, Mikey, has been at the heart of Liverpool’s food and drink scene for over a decade. He writes for Liverpool Noise, leads city tours (from beer and gin to food and history), and holds wine qualifications. With his studies and qualifications in WSET, he brings insider knowledge and a relaxed teaching style — guiding you through great venues and thoughtfully chosen bottles.

Frequently Asked Questions

A wine tour takes you away from the typical format of sitting in one place, and trying wines back to back. Don’t get us wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that – but we felt there was more to offer AND to give the wine bars and venues all a chance to show off exactly what they do and what makes them so unique.

We take you to 4 amazing wine spots where you’ll have the chance to try wines that capture what that venue is about. So think about a chilled, crisp Gavi di Gavi at a local Italian wine bar, picture yourself sipping a glass of Crémant in a lovely French jazz café. That’s what we wanted and we also take the chance to talk to the owners who tell you why they’ve picked these wines and give you some amazing stories too.

To be honest, we know we have the best people in the business running cafes, bars and restaurants from North to South Liverpool. It was simply a matter of speaking to everyone and instantly they got it. Liverpool is an incredibly diverse city and we see it all the time; Friendly, welcoming and that perfect mix of cultures, food and people.

That’s why we have made it our own, and the Liverpool WIne Tours will hopefully make its own stamp on the city and show people a small insight (along with our food tours) of what we’re about, why we do what we do, and where to go.

This tour has seen people from all corners of the world, and all corners of the L postcodes too! Everybody is welcome to join. Locals will discover wines and hopefully some new favourite spots they can return to, and tourists from all over can get a feel for the city and have a great time while doing so. You’ll see all the hotspots such as Chinatown, The Royal Albert Dock, The Financial District, Ropewalks and everywhere in between.

From small cosy wine bars to the tallest buildings in the city we like to think we’ve made a fantastic start in creating a guided tour that people can come back to time and time again.

You can come to the tour with absolutely zero knowledge and you’ll have a great time. It can also be aimed at wine lovers too! You’ll have your sommelier host or expert tour guide with you every step of the way to answer all manner of wild and wonderful questions. How many grapes go into a bottle of wine? How fast does a cork fly out of a bottle? Can I have a top-up? All these can be answered (yes to the last one)

Our aim is to open your eyes to new wines, new styles, and to give you some confidence at a supermarket or faced with a restaurant wine list. You don’t need to know what soil runs through the Champagne region but we will make sure your taste buds are brought on a journey around Liverpool. Did we mention top-tier snacks too?

Of course, unless you don’t drink alcohol in which case you may find that A Taste of Liverpool Food Tour is a better option for you! But all of our tours can be altered and customised for each tour. So if it’s a 21st birthday, a group of friends or your nan’s 80th we’ll make sure that the group are catered for and have a good time.

We’ve been running tours for many years with almost 600 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor, so we’ve brought that exact same ethos to our wine tours where we want your experience to be incredible!
