A Foodie Weekend In Chester – Where To Eat, Drink & Explore

Google Reviews 5.0★ on Google (90+ reviews) Tripadvisor Reviews 5.0★ on Tripadvisor (600+ reviews)

Chester’s independent food and drink scene has exploded over the past five years, and honestly? It’s become a proper foodie haven. For a small city, Chester is absolutely packed with passionate entrepreneurs running brilliant restaurants, cafés, bars, and markets.

The hardest part of writing this itinerary was narrowing it down – you’d easily need a full week to do justice to everything Chester has to offer.

I’ve focused on relaxed, mid-priced venues rather than fine dining options, because this city is full of gems that are perfect for a chilled weekend.

And of course, always check opening times and book ahead where you can – I’d hate for you to be disappointed!

Day One

Breakfast: Crustum or Kookaburra

Start your morning in New Chester Market at Crustum. The hearty breakfast dishes served here will set you up perfectly for the day.

If you’re after something on the go, pop into Kookaburra (just off Watergate Street) for a strong coffee and one of their incredible pastries.

Lunch: Pars Kahave

Now we’re talking mezze heaven! Head to Pars Kahave, Chester’s current Restaurant of the Year. Their mezze platters are a work of art – perfect for sharing.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try a glass of Turkish wine or a cup of their deliciously nutty Menengic (pistachio coffee).

Pre-Dinner Drink: Vin Santo

For wine lovers, Vin Santo is an absolute must. Tucked away but full of character, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a glass (or two!) before dinner.

Dinner: Stile Napoletano

When you’re ready for your main event, walk over to Stile Napoletano. This award-winning pizzeria has made waves internationally – ranked 13th in this year’s European Pizza Awards – and it’s easy to see why.

Authentic Neapolitan bases, the freshest toppings, and a warm welcome every single time.

Day Two

Breakfast: Little Yellow Pig

Today, start with a stroll down Godstall Lane and grab breakfast at Little Yellow Pig. It’s cosy, and their menu is a proper crowd-pleaser.

Lunch: Take Your Pick!

Chester’s food scene is all about variety. Choose one of these brilliant lunch options:

Pre-Dinner Drink: That Beer Place

If you’re into your beer, That Beer Place is the perfect spot for a casual drink and a chat. Their range is brilliant, and the staff really know their stuff.

Dinner: Tapas to End the Weekend

To finish your foodie weekend, tuck into small plates at one of these:

All three venues have a great buzz, and the sharing-style menus make them ideal for lingering over a glass of wine and trying “just one more dish”.

Chester Delivers Big Flavours

Chester might be compact, but its independent food and drink scene is huge. Whether you’re nibbling mezze, slurping seafood, or enjoying world-class pizza, this little city knows how to deliver big flavours.

And if you have time? Stay an extra day or two. There’s still so much to discover…
