At Walking Food Tours UK, everything has always come back to one simple idea: creating amazing experiences for our guests.

When we first started almost a decade ago, the goal was to deliver memorable food tours that celebrated great local venues, great storytelling and the character of each city. That was the plan then, and it still is today.

So when we found out we were finalists in two different cities – Chester and Liverpool – both in the Experience of the Year category, we were genuinely delighted. To be recognised by both the Visit Cheshire Tourism Awards and the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards felt like a real milestone for the business.

Both events brought together some of the very best tourism and hospitality businesses in the region. The level of creativity, innovation and passion in the room was incredible, and simply being shortlisted alongside so many brilliant experiences already felt like a huge honour.

Experience of the Year Winners in Two Cities

What happened next made the evening even more special.

Gareth represented us at the Visit Cheshire Tourism Awards for Chester Food Tours, while Mikey held the fort for Liverpool Food Tours at the awards evening in the stunning Liverpool Cathedral.

First came the news from Cheshire: A Taste of Chester won its category.

Then came a nervous wait for the Liverpool City Region results with Liverpool Food Tours.

By the end of the night, the celebrations were in full swing – because both tours had taken home gold.

Walking Food Tours UK celebrating Experience of the Year wins in Chester and Liverpool

Winning Experience of the Year in both Chester and Liverpool is something we are incredibly proud of. It is a moment that reflects years of hard work, consistency and belief in what makes our tours special.

Why These Awards Mean So Much

These awards are not just about us. They are also a reflection of the fantastic independent venues, producers and hospitality teams we are lucky enough to work with across both cities.

Our partner venues are a huge part of what makes each tour memorable. Every stop has its own personality, story and charm, and over the years we have built genuine relationships with the people behind them. That connection is a big part of what sets our tours apart.

We have always believed that food tours should do more than simply take people from one venue to another. They should create a proper sense of place. They should help guests discover the stories behind the food, drink and streets around them. And they should leave people feeling like they have really connected with the city.

Celebrating Chester and Liverpool’s Food and Drink Scene

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is knowing that our tours can help shine a light on the food and drink scenes in Chester and Liverpool.

If a guest leaves one of our tours having discovered a new favourite independent venue, that means a lot to us. If a visitor goes home with a more positive impression of the city because of their experience with us, then that is just as meaningful.

Food and drink tell the story of a place in a way few things can. Being able to share that with guests – and help support local businesses at the same time – is what has always driven Walking Food Tours UK forward.

Thank You to Everyone Who Has Supported Us

There are so many people we would like to thank.

To our partner venues in Chester and Liverpool, thank you for welcoming us, collaborating with us and helping make every tour what it is.

To our guests, thank you for booking, recommending us and continuing to support independent food experiences.

And to everyone behind these awards, thank you for recognising what we have worked so hard to build.

Winning Experience of the Year in two cities is a huge achievement for our team, and one we will never forget.

Could It Be Three Out of Three?

The celebrations may not be over just yet.

We have one more awards evening coming up – this time in Shrewsbury.

So now the big question is: could it be three out of three?
