Liverpool has no shortage of excellent coffee shops, cafés and food venues – and they’re not just somewhere to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat.
If you’re meeting a client, catching up with a colleague, holding a one-to-one or simply looking for somewhere away from the office, there are plenty of good options across Liverpool city centre.
For me, the best coffee shops for business meetings in Liverpool offer more than just a decent cup of coffee. You want a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and enough space to have a proper conversation. Good food certainly helps too!
Here are eight of my current favourites, in no particular order.
1. Parliament Square Coffee – Cook Street
Parliament Square Coffee is one of my favourites and a great all-rounder.
The spacious Cook Street venue works well for a one-to-one, a small group meeting or an informal catch-up over coffee. There is also a private meeting room for occasions when you need a little more privacy.
Alongside its coffee, Parliament Square serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and freshly baked pastries, so it’s easy for a quick meeting to become something a little more substantial.
I also love the character of the place. British icons adorn the walls, British music plays and the whole venue has a genuine sense of personality.
If you have a few minutes to spare, ask the team about the history of the building. There’s more to Parliament Square than initially meets the eye!
2. 92 Degrees – Hardman Street
92 Degrees has become one of Liverpool’s best-known coffee names, and its Hardman Street venue has the kind of relaxed, laid-back atmosphere that suits an informal business meeting.
Its location is particularly convenient if you’re working around the cathedrals, the Philharmonic Quarter or the southern end of the city centre.
There’s good coffee, comfortable surroundings and no need to make the meeting feel overly formal.
Sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
3. Ropes & Twines – Bold Street
Bold Street has plenty of places to eat and drink, but Ropes & Twines is well worth considering if you’re looking for somewhere with a slightly different feel.
It’s one of Bold Street’s established speciality coffee and wine venues, making it particularly versatile.
Coffee meeting in the morning? Perfect. Something a little more relaxed later in the day? You can move on to wine!
Being on Bold Street also puts you right in the middle of one of Liverpool’s best areas for independent food and drink.
4. P&D Gran Caffè – Williamson Square
If you like your coffee with a little Italian atmosphere, P&D Gran Caffè is a great option.
Located beside Williamson Square in the heart of Liverpool, it’s somewhere you can sit back and watch the bustle of the city while enjoying proper Italian coffee, pastries or something more substantial.
There’s something refreshing about having an informal business conversation in a lively café rather than sitting across a desk in an office.
For anyone who loves Italian coffee culture, this one is definitely worth considering.
5. Hardware Coffee + Kitchen – Renshaw Street
Hardware Coffee + Kitchen is another popular Liverpool coffee haunt and, importantly for a business meeting, it offers plenty of space.
It’s the sort of place where you can order a good coffee, settle in and have a proper conversation without feeling as though you’re taking over half the café.
There’s also an extensive brunch menu, making Hardware a good option when a morning meeting starts moving towards lunchtime.
It operates on a walk-in basis, so it’s sensible to allow a little flexibility during busy periods.
Coffee, brunch, brews and bakes – what’s not to like?
6. RISE – Exchange Flags
One of the newer venues on my list, RISE is ideally located at Exchange Flags in Liverpool’s business district.
That makes it particularly convenient if you’re meeting clients or colleagues based around Castle Street, Water Street or the wider commercial district.
The coffee is excellent, the service is friendly and there’s brunch available if your meeting requires something more substantial.
Those are three very useful ingredients for a successful coffee meeting.
7. Moose Coffee – Plaza 1821
If your idea of a business meeting involves coffee and pancakes, Moose Coffee at Plaza 1821 could be the one!
Located on William Jessop Way beside Princes Dock, Moose offers something a little different from a standard city-centre coffee shop.
Its American and Canadian-inspired breakfast and brunch dishes make it particularly good for an early meeting, breakfast catch-up or relaxed client conversation.
Let’s be honest: some business discussions are considerably better when there’s a proper breakfast involved.
8. Paper Cup Coffee – Queen Square
Finally, one that’s particularly close to my heart.
Paper Cup Coffee is based in Queen Square and forms part of the Paper Cup Project, a Liverpool charity supporting people who have experienced homelessness.
For me, it’s a wonderful example of how food, drink and hospitality can make a much broader contribution to the community.
You can enjoy your coffee and have your meeting while supporting an organisation doing genuinely important work across Liverpool.
That makes the coffee taste even better.
