When Visit Cheshire asked its partners to help celebrate Cheshire Day, we were only too happy to get involved.

Cheshire Day takes place on 30th March each year and is a county-wide celebration of everything that makes Cheshire such a special place to live, work and visit. To mark the occasion, we hosted a special 90-minute tour featuring amazing Cheshire cheese while also showcasing Chester’s heritage and its fantastic food and drink scene.

A Special Cheshire Day Experience in Chester

For Cheshire Day, we wanted to create an experience that reflected the county’s rich food heritage while also giving guests a flavour of what makes Chester such a great destination.

Our special tour combined local history, welcoming hospitality, and some truly excellent cheese, giving guests a chance to enjoy a shorter but still memorable taste of what Walking Food Tours UK is all about.

Welcoming Guests from Near and Far

It was lovely to welcome guests from Canada, Italy, Cheshire and the Wirral on the day.

One of the best parts of any tour is seeing people from different places come together to enjoy great food, hear local stories, and experience the character of the city. Cheshire Day felt like the perfect occasion to do just that, with visitors and local guests alike joining us to celebrate the county in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

Showcasing Amazing Cheshire Cheese

A real highlight of the tour was the visit to The Cheese Shop, where Annie, one of the shop’s knowledgeable and passionate team members, gave our guests a warm welcome.

Guests were able to sample and enjoy a selection of stunning cheeses from Bournes, Burts, and Larkton Hall. It was a brilliant way to shine a spotlight on one of Cheshire’s best-known food traditions and to celebrate the quality of local produce the county is known for.

Celebrating What Makes Cheshire Great

Cheshire Day is a celebration of the people, places, businesses and traditions that make the county unique.

The date itself commemorates 30th March 1300, the day King Edward I granted Cheshire its Charter of Liberties. Today, it offers a chance for communities, organisations and businesses across the county to come together and champion everything that makes Cheshire so special.

Food, Heritage and Local Pride

For us, Cheshire Day was a great opportunity to celebrate not only the county’s famous produce, but also the wider experience of spending time in Chester.

From the city’s remarkable heritage to its independent food and drink scene, Chester offers visitors a wonderful mix of culture, character and quality. Bringing those elements together in a special Cheshire Day tour felt like the perfect way to join in the celebrations.

Looking Back on a Lovely Day

We really enjoyed being part of Cheshire Day and helping to showcase the county in our own way.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Visit Cheshire for encouraging partners across the county to celebrate the occasion. It was a pleasure to share some fantastic Cheshire cheese, welcome guests from near and far, and play a small part in marking a day that means so much to the county.
